When choosing an English to Spanish translator, the same general guidelines apply as for any translator. Read about it here:

However, there are some special considerations for Spanish due to the vast number of Spanish dialects out there. Of course the dialects are all mutually intelligible, especially in writing, but there are some things you need to watch out for.

Example: The Spanish word for 'to take' is 'coger'. However, in Argentina, for example, it has taken on a whole new meaning: 'to have intercourse'.

If your translation is intended for only one country, such as a user manual for a product that's currently only exported to Mexico, look for an English to Spanish translator living in that country or originating from there. If you are translating your website, however, the Spanish used must be international and cannot include local colloquialisms. The translator must be familiar with the most important pitfalls of the Spanish language.

A translation agency can help you greatly in choosing the right translator for your job. Most good agencies will work with English to Spanish translators all over the world and can pick one who lives in the target country for your translation.
